The Denver Trip

We made it back home from a successful trip to Denver. It wasn't the smoothest of trips that I have experienced with Nash being sick and having a freak out on the plane filled with screaming and crying, the hot weather in Denver, all the diaper blowouts and the altitude bothering me. It was strange. But Nash just loved Nanook, he would just squeal whenever Nanook would get up around his face and I don't think Nanook really knew what to think of Nash. I was glad to be back home late Monday night and in my own bed in the air conditioning. And of course happy to see my doggies, they went crazy when we got home. Love those guys! I still have not attempted the daunting task of unpacking, and with the garage sale this weekend and our anniversary celebration, it's gonna be a busy weekend and days leading up to it. Everything just might have to wait until Sunday. I'm really hoping we make a descent amount of cash on Saturday at the garage sale. Luke has never worked a garage sale, so he doesn't really know what to expect and I fear the worst.
He doesn't understand the concept of pricing things low so that they get sold. We'll see what happens and hope for the best. I'm just glad he was able to switch his days off and stay home Saturday to help me with it, otherwise I would have to wait until spring time for the next neighborhood garage sale.
Looking forward to our date night on Saturday for our anniversary, looks like it's gonna be a late dinner and even later movie, but I can't wait!

Getting closer

We are getting closer to our Colorado getaway, I can't wait. The weather is going to be perfect and there is a fall festival in Boulder that we are going to go check out Saturday.
Sunday, I will be able to just relax with Nash and enjoy Nanook and Charlie's company while the guys are at the game.
And hopefully the Zoo on Monday or something fun for Nash.
On another note, there was recall on the formula that we buy Nash. Had it not been for people posting it on facebook, I would have not known about it, so I am grateful for that, because the container that we currently using was included in the recall, so I have to go get some more today.
But on the other hand I really don't appreciate some of the Mom's comments on facebook saying they would never give their children formula, or thank God their baby doesn't drink formula.
It really bothers me when other Mom's who breast feed and only breast feed put down Mom's who don't or put down using formula in general.
Not all of us Mom's are lucky enough to be able breast feed for the first year or even at all for that matter. And no Mother should judge another Mother for whatever they choose to do.
We are supposed to be supporters to each other, not make someone feel bad because they can't breast feed or chose not too, whatever the reason may be.
People just don't know when to bite their tongues sometimes.
Today, Nash and I will make a quick trip to Old Navy to see if I can find any good clearance stuff for him, once again adding to the birthday/Christmas collection.
If I didn't have to go by myself I would actually consider going shopping this year on Black Friday, but I don't think it would be worth it unless I had someone else to join me at the task.
Nash has officially figured out how to get out of his play go round thingy, I unfortunately witnessed the last part of him tumbling out of it yesterday after putting him in it so that I could vacuum. Luckily he was smart enough to not land on his head, but I couldn't believe he had gotten out of it, looks like it is time for us to take the chair part off and just use the table for him to play on and get the pack n play out so we can put him in that if we have to leave the room for some reason. Of course we have still not purchased the inevitable baby gate, I still can't decide if it's worth the money to put one at the top of the stairs, or at least not just yet. We may put it off until he actually starts walking, which at this point could be very soon.
Still really hoping I can fit all of our stuff including the car seat base in 1 suitcase, I was able to stuff the car seat in a big duffel bag we already have, and I got the booster seat in there too, so I didn't have to go out and purchase one of those big bags for it at Babies R Us, that will have to wait until we upgrade to a bigger car seat, which once again, will be sooner then later, Nash is so long his poor feet hang out of the seat. One thing at a time, luckily with refinancing this month, we have been able to put a some money away in savings, so it's nice to know that we have it in case of an emergency. I finally had a plumber come look at our sink and disposal, the disposal needs replaced and he fixed the faucet with no charge. I think Luke and I are going to take on the task of just buying a disposal and trying to install it ourselves so that we don't have to pay $300 for someone else to do it. Just another thing to add to the list :)

Denver this weekend!

Finally told Luke his birthday surprise on Sunday, or I actually left him a note, surprising him with the news that we are going to Denver for 3 days and he is going to the Colts vs Broncos game with Jason. Needless to say he is pretty happy. Thank goodness it is only a 2 hour flight with no connections, it seems for 3 days we have a lot of stuff we have to take for Nash and I'm hoping we can get everything in one suitcase, and I also hoping I can fit the car seat and base in a big duffel bag that we have and then we will have the big stroller as well. But the trouble is worth it.
It seems like the weather should be pretty nice, cool at night and not too hot during the day.
The guys will be tailgating Sunday, so I will be at the house with the dogs and Nash, hopefully I can keep him busy all day, not being at our own house worries me a little on how he will do with napping, sleeping and playing in general. But I really can't wait to see him with Nanook and Charlie, he is so used to the small dogs we have he is not gonna know what to do when he sees Nanook. I will be taking lots of pictures that is for sure. I think we are banking on going to the zoo on Monday, as long as the weather stays nice, otherwise it will be the aquarium, either way it will be nice. Somehow we got a fraudulent charge on our account, used from Luke's card and used as a debit, not sure how that is even possible, they would have had to know his PIN number. So I canceled my card and I have to now wait 10 days to get a new one, luckily Luke just got his new one in the mail.
And the charge was not cheap, $173 worth of something, I just hope we can get it reimbursed.
I have lots to get done this week before leave, cleaning. laundry, packing. Mike is gonna come stay at the house and watch the boys for us, very grateful for that. I will miss them!

Another week done and moving on to the weekend

I have Luke's birthday coming up and our 2 year anniversary as well, plus I am hoping Luke can switch his furlough day to Oct 2nd so he can help me with the garage sale in our neighborhood.
I can't do it by myself and watch Nash. If not there is always the spring garage sale.
But I want to make a little extra cash that we can put in our savings.
We decided to open up a savings/college fund for Nash for his 1st birthday.
Even though we are celebrating Luke's birthday next weekend, I think I am going to go ahead and tell him what we are doing this weekend, so that he has the whole week to be excited about it.
I'm really looking forward to it.
No big plans for our anniversary, I think we are just going to get a sitter and plan a date night so that we can go see a movie. We don't get to go see movies enough, like we used to.
Nash is finally better and does not have a rash anymore. No idea what the rash was from to begin with, just glad it is gone and he is feeling better.
No news this week on the lay offs, so we just keep trucking a long. Finally go the tools to hang up Nash's swing, so that is one thing we will be doing this weekend and we got his Radio Flyer wagon for his birthday present from us. Now I just have to fill it up with all the toys and stuff that I bought him.

Gonna be a long night tonight!

Luke took on an overnight shift tonight to make some extra, much needed money, which is great, except for the fact that it is an overnight gig, it has been so long since he has not been here overnight, I forgot what that even feels like. He is gonna have a hard time adjusting to that schedule and then back to his regular day schedule, but I'm glad he is doing it. We are already creeping up to the end of this month, which makes me wonder how much longer will I have to wait for this so called list to come out. Trying not to think about it, but it is really hard not too.
Back on my work out schedule today, gotta get that in and then get home, get dinner cooked so Luke can eat before he goes off to work for the night.
Nash has developed a rash over most of his body, I think he has had an allergic reaction to something we ate over the weekend, not sure if it was from dinner Saturday or Sunday, or I guess it could have been from his teething or maybe he did have some kind of virus. He doesn't have a fever and has been playing and eating just fine, so those are all good signs.
Maybe I will finally get around to watching Dear John tonight, well at least that is my plan.

Monday, Monday

Another Monday has come and is almost gone! Thank goodness for that!
Not much of anything to talk about from this past weekend. Nash had a pretty bad fever on Friday when I picked him up from the sitters and all evening, he had no appetite, I gave him some Tylenol and luckily he got better and seemed to be back to normal yesterday. Hopefully it was just a teething thing, I think I am ready for the teething to be over and we have just begun.
Another successful weekend of home cooked dinner each night, always a good thing when I don't have to spend any money. There is absolutely nothing on the agenda for this week. My one goal is to get Nash's swing hung up, I keep saying that I'm gonna do it and never get around to making a trip to the hardware store to get what I need to make it happen. Luke is playing some free golf today, so who knows when he will be getting home, but that means I am going to treat myself to some Nico's for dinner or maybe Wendy's they both sound really, really good.
I did get the house cleaned yesterday, most of it, which was my goal. However I spent a whole weekend again not even leaving the house, it's craziness. I'm really looking forward to the surprise trip I have planned for Luke coming up next weekend. I hope he loves it, and it will be nice for us to get away as a family. Now I just have to decide how and when I am going to tell him about his surprise trip, I really want to wait as long as possible, like even up to the day before if possible! I might not be able to wait that long, but we'll see. Gotta make sure I have our house sitter plans all squared away, so that are doggies are well taken care of while we are gone.

very tired Friday

I am so tired today, did not sleep well last night at all. Have been in a bad mood since Luke dropped Nash off to me at work yesterday. Luckily I was able to go home and nap while Nash took a 2 hour nap himself, then we made our weekly trip to Wal-Mart. And by the time we got home I had just enough time to feed him dinner, let him play for a little bit, he must have been too full from dinner or too tired but he didn't want anything to do with his bed time bottle. And of course leave it to Bobby to run in Nash's room and wake him up at 530 this morning, no doubt by then Nash was starving, he went right back to sleep after his bottle, which I knew would not be a good thing since I would have to wake him up so we could leave by 630 to get to the sitters.
He was grumpy and not happy to be at the sitter's this morning, I felt bad leaving him.
I need this day to go fast. Nothing on the agenda for this weekend, probably clean, since I have been putting off, I need to get to my movies that I have had for a week now.
The good news is that I got one of the park ramadas reserved for Nash's birthday, hoping of course that it won't be raining that day. But November is generally rain free and just really nice out, so I can't wait!
I just hope we have enough people here to consider it a party :( Hopefully Barb will be able to come out, she is going to see what she can do and get back to me.
Jason is now planning on coming out for it and Mom and Dad will be here.
So that will be nice. I need to get the Red Wagon from Toys R Us soon and I guess I should start considering buying stuff for Christmas as well for Nash, I want him to have a great Christmas too.
This will be the first time we put up the tree at this house and the first time in at least 2 years that I will be putting it up, I can't wait! Too bad Luke has to work Christmas Eve and Christmas day this year, but he will be home during the evenings.

Budget cut article

So I read an article this morning about the City council and the budget cuts that are going to be done. It did say that if this 1/2 cent tax does not go through they did give the go ahead to cut Police, Fire and Parks and Rec employees. The number that was thrown out was 659 employees and 274 of them are Police Officers and higher ups. This is not what I wanted to be reading on this Thursday morning, it has only caused my anxiety to go up, I have felt like I need to get sick all morning. Have had that terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach and it won't go away.
I actually read a couple articles, the first one had me thinking that cuts to the Police might not be happening, but after reading the second I realized that would not be the case. So here we sit waiting on this so called list the HR will be churning out and just hope that Luke's name is not on it and if it is then we sit and wait until November and just hope that the people vote on this 1/2 cent tax, which unfortunately is very doubtful :(
I don't know how things are going to play out for us in the next year or few years for that matter.
We are re-thinking somethings and will probably have to make some real grown up decisions and it totally sucks. I knew this bad economy would affect us, but I never dreamed it would affect us to this degree. Here we were a year ago, enjoying our new home, and now it seems to be the only thing that I would rather not be attached too ...but I just love it so much.
The 2 months, could just be the most stressful months of my life so far... Luke seems to be doing much better then I am, maybe I am jumping the gun too much and assuming the worst, but like everyone keeps saying you have to hope for the best and plan for the worst. But it would be so much easier for me to plan for the worst if I knew what that meant.

good Tuesday on to Wednesday

Had a productive day yesterday and last night, I actually worked out, I really, really did not want to go, but I made myself and I'm glad I did. I did some of my physical therapy exercises which I should be doing anyways, my back feels so much better and the leg pain has gone down a lot.
I stopped and picked up some dinner, came home cooked dinner, ate dinner and then we all went on a long walk to the park. Nash was wore out, by the time we got back it was his bed time.
He is such a little stinker I love it! Luke and I watch Cloverfield, well actually I watched it and he read his magazines.
But this day seems to be going really, really slow. I gotta get another workout in tonight and I have no idea what we are going to do for dinner, I guess I will pick up something on the way home again, but this time maybe no cooking required. The weather has been so much cooler, it was in the 70's last night when we went for our walk, of course it had also been raining, but it was so nice outside.

Labor Day Weekend

I never thought I would be spending a 3 day holiday weekend doing absolutely nothing cooped in my house with my son. Not exactly what I had in mind, unfortunately Luke had to work the last 3 days, so it was just Nash and I. I did manage to cook dinner all three nights, but I didn't even get around to watching the movie that I had planned on watching, maybe I will finally get to it tonight.
You'd think after 3 straight days of being lazy that I would be able to get up this morning with difficulty, but that was not the case. It actually seemed harder to wake up and get going and I have a huge lack of motivation to absolutely anything right now, not sure why really.
Thankfully it is a short work week, not that knowing that will make it go by any faster, but here is to hoping.
However Nash was quite the busy little bee this weekend, he favorite thing to do right now is to play in our enclosed living room, and he loves to get all the DVD's out and play with the cases and he keeps putting things underneath the couch and then we can't get them out. And he loves playing tug of war with Bobby and Bobby's squirrel. I think he could do that for hours on end. All this play time makes him very tired, so he has been napping and sleeping great right now. He had spaghetti last night and loved it.

Greatest concert

My wonderful husband surprised with 3rd tow tickets to the David Gray Ray Lamontagne concert on Wednesday night, it was so wonderful!
We dropped Nash off at Maria's, he cried a little bit, but I think it was because we were both standing there and leaving and he is not used to seeing that.
Maria said he did wonderful overnight at her house.
We Nikki come stay at our house with the boys so they wouldn't be alone over night and everything was good with that.
We got to Phoenix, checked into our hotel grabbed some dinner and walked over to Dodge Theatre for the show, our seats were so great, it was just unbelievable we were constantly taking pictures on our phones and posting to facebook.
Ray was awesome and David was even better, overall it was a great show, I think Luke really enjoyed it too, even though he is not quite the die hard fan that I am.
We got up pretty early and grabbed a big breakfast and then headed back home, picked Nash up and we all just had a lazy rest of the day on Thursday. It was sooo nice.
Today is work, working out and grocery and then I have a 3 day weekend to get back in the groove of things.
Overall it was a great getaway for Luke and I ,we need that every once in awhile, but I missed my 3 boys :)
The temperatures are starting to cool off a bit and it seems like monsoon season is officially over, not more rain storms, but we really didn't have much of a monsoon season this year.
